IPTV Solutions
The increasing interest in offering IPTV requires service providers to build aggregation networks that can offer multiple services on their network. The NetIron MLX Series, BigIron RX Series, NetIron CES 2000 Series, FastIron Edge X (FESX) Series, and NetIron M2404 are ideal products for providers who intend to deliver IPTV services over their network. In addition, Brocade also offers low-latency, high density switches and routers that are required for building an IP-enabled video serving office. The Brocade early experience in powering IPTV applications globally gives service providers the assurance of working with a proven partner in building a next-generation IPTV-capable network.
Overview
Brocade flagship offerings for the IPTV market include the BigIron RX Series Layer 3 switch and the NetIron MLX Series router. As the popularity of value-added IPTV services such as Network Personal Video Recorder (Network PVR) and Video On Demand (VoD) soars, service providers need to future-proof their network to be 10-GbE ready near the access nodes and capable of speeds beyond 10-GbE in the aggregation and backbone layers. For FTTH (Fiber To the Home) offerings, compact nodes that can scale up to 100 Mbps - 1Gbps to each consumer are required.
Both the BigIron RX and the NetIron MLX products have high-density 10-GbE interface support along with wire-speed performance, and the ability to form multi-port, multi-slot trunks over multiple 10-GbE ports to go above 10-GbE speeds. The low-latency, and advanced QoS system architecture of these platforms, along with wire-speed performance make them ideal for deployment of bandwidth-intensive differentiated services that are required in triple-play networks. The NetIron MLX router is suitable for providers offering IPTV services on a multi-service, MPLS-enabled infrastructure, or for high scalability aggregation networks.
Service providers are increasingly locating access devices closer to residential subscribers in an effort to increase the bandwidth that can be offered to each user. The location of a large number of such access devices also increases the need for efficient aggregation. The NetIron CES 2000 Series is a compact 1 RU switch with support for Provider Bridge / Provider Backbone Bridge technologies. The NetIron CES 2000 switches have several security features and powerful multicast capabilities such as IGMP v3 and fast leave support. The Brocade NetIron CES 2000 platform is ideal when the aggregation switch needs to be located close to access devices such as DSLAMs. Additionally, for Classic Layer 2 networks, Brocade offers the FESX Series of compact switches.
For IPTV over active Ethernet deployments, the NetIron CES 2000 Series and FESX products give providers the ability to offer 100Base-FX or 1-GbE Fiber interfaces to subscribers. With up to 48 ports of 1-GbE Fiber and 2 ports of 10-GbE in a compact 1 RU platform, the NetIron CES 2000 can be used for efficient and scalable FTTx deployments with rich multicast-based services.
Many independent reports suggest that the IPTV market will see explosive growth in the coming years. As more subscribers switch to IPTV services, the video serving office and the head-end will increasingly play a prominent role in ensuring satisfactory user experience. Brocade offers low-latency switches and routers to interconnect the high-density media servers, middleware servers, digital rights management servers, and encoders. The Brocade industry-leading application switching family, ServerIron can ensure application load balancing across multiple application servers used in the head-end.
