Foundry Sessions - Being Independent
This month’s session feature award winning post production house, Finish, based in the heart of Soho in London.
We’ll be chatting to the Co-Founders of Finish about it’s humble beginnings 12 years ago and how it has managed to grow organically into a company of over 20 people in larger premises, while maintaining a culture where quality, technology and personal service combine to create great output and attract repeat business.
Founded in 2003 by Jason Watts and Justine White, Finish quickly became one of the leading post production companies in the UK consistently being voted into Televisual Magazine’s ‘Top 10 Commercials Post Houses Survey’ and to this day keeps it’s original philosophies close to it’s heart. Whilst considered a boutique, this isn’t always reflected in the size and scale of projects it delivers such as the soon to be released feature film The Keeping Room, advertising campaigns for O2, adidas World Cup, Nike, Vodafone, Sky, BMW, content films for Volvo Life Paint, Ted Baker, music videos for FKA Twigs, Royal Blood and Florence & The Machine to name a few over the years.
Justine White, co-founder, Finish
Justine is MD and a co-founder of Finish in London. After graduating with a degree in fine arts in her native Australia, Justine moved to London to seek out a career in creative image making. She started out in commercials production and then moved to Stockholm for a year assisting one of Sweden’s top commercial photographers . On return to London she discovered post production and knew this was home. Working her way up through Complete and Soho 601 she then set up Finish in 2003 with Jason Watts taking on the production and business side of the company and has been instrumental to its rise ever since.
Jason Watts, co-founder, Finish
Jason is Creative Director and co-founder of Finish in London. Following a short stint as a sound engineer, Jason came into post production through The Mill where learning his craft, he became an award-winning Flame artist with a D&AD Gold Pencil, British Arrow Crafts Awards amongst others to his name. In 2003 he saw a gap between agencies and large post houses to deliver high end visual effects and set up Finish one of the original artist led boutique post houses. Watts continues to remain one of the best in his field as a VFX artist and supervisor. His enthusiasm for creating brilliant effects and collaborating never wanes.
