Creating the dark, ominous world of Gotham

Emmy-nominated CoSA VFX takes a very artist-centric view of its pipeline so decided to use a Foundry pipeline, including Modo®, Mari® and Nuke®.

With shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Almost Human, Revolution and the critically acclaimed Gotham on its roster, the once small boutique has grown to include artists in Los Angeles and Vancouver. Paul Ghezzo, CG supervisor at CoSA VFX, shares how his team—using Foundry's pipeline—creates everything from the vast city scenes to the menacing creatures that lurk in the shadows of Gotham.

CoSA’s pipeline is somewhat software agnostic. We like to use the right tool for the job. It’s about the artist when it comes right down to it. We’re finding a lot of artists doing phenomenal work using Mari, using Modo—and almost our entire compositing team using Nuke.
