Digital assets become “smart” with SAUCE

Foundry Project SAUCE will contribute to make content fully adaptive in a broad, unprecedented manner

Elastic research

SAUCE is a three-year EU Research and Innovation project involving Foundry in a consortium of nine partners: Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Project Lead), Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, Saarland University, IKinema, Disney Research, Brno University of Technology, Double Negative and Trinity College Dublin.

Aiming at increasing the potential for repurpose and reuse of content, SAUCE will work towards creating a set of tools that allow editing or automatically adapting properties of previously created assets to the current production needs; developing a flexible capture, storage, distribution and processing framework for newly created assets, including light-field technology; and finally, creating management, animation and production tools to keep digital content accessible, discoverable and malleable by using procedural techniques and high level semantic knowledge.

Achieving these three aims will allow companies to work much more cost-effectively and efficiently. It will also open up the possibility of sharing assets with other sectors – especially those that are taking up interest in virtual production or AR/VR for various scenarios where content creation can be a barrier due to its prohibitive cost.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under Grant Agreement No 780470.
