Foundry Acquires Griptape to Accelerate AI Integration Across VFX and Animation Pipelines
LONDON – February 18, 2026 – Foundry, the leading developer of creative software for the Media and Entertainment industry, today announced the completion of its acquisition of Griptape, a pioneer in enterprise-grade AI orchestration. This acquisition accelerates Foundry's AI strategy, adding critical orchestration capabilities to complement the AI-powered features in Foundry's product portfolio, which began in 2021 with the release of CopyCat.
The acquisition of Griptape represents the next evolution of this strategy, enabling studios to orchestrate multiple AI models and agents within secure, professional workflows that connect seamlessly with Foundry's existing creative toolsets.
As studios shift from experimentation to everyday production use, the need for better control of AI models has become critical. Griptape enables controlled access to rapidly evolving open-source and commercial AI models in a user-friendly framework, whilst balancing the strict security and traceability required by major production environments.
Foundry will continue to develop Griptape’s offering, enhancing Griptape’s unique strengths to meet the demands of VFX and Animation pipelines, and will integrate with creative toolsets including Nuke, the industry standard for compositing.
Unlike alternatives, Griptape offers a robust, highly extensible Python-based architecture designed for scale, workflow longevity, and integration with existing infrastructure including production management and render farm hand-offs. Beyond simple conversational interfaces, Griptape enables creation and management of secure, programmable agents that can support tasks within Griptape and across the pipeline.

サブスクリプションへ移行されない場合でも、永久ライセンスの所有権は引き続き保持 され、メンテナンス契約でカバーされていた最終バージョンのソフトウェアを継続してご利用 いただけます。ただし、メンテナンス契約の満了後は、将来のアップデート、バグ修正、テク ニカルサポートなど、メンテナンスに含まれる各種サービスは提供対象外となります。
将来的に価格は変更されますか？
移行先サブスクリプションの価格は、メンテナンス費用と同等となり、年次の価格改定 についても最大 5%を上限とした範囲で設定されます。 Foundry では、今回の移行が一貫 性と予見性のある形で進むよう配慮しており、お客様にとって分かりやすく、安心してご判 断いただける価格体系を維持することを目指しています。
すでにメンテナンス契約が失効している場合でも、この特別価格は適用されますか？
本移行に伴う特別価格は、2027 年の更新時点で有効なメンテナンス契約をお持ちのお 客様のみを対象としています。すでにメンテナンス契約が失効している場合は、最新のソフ トウェアおよびサポートをご利用いただくために、通常のサブスクリプション価格での新規 購入が必要となります。
更新時に移行しなかった場合、後からこの条件で移行することはできますか？
本価格条件は、2027 年の更新時に限り一度のみ提供される特別なものです。メンテナ ンス費用と同水準となる特別条件を適用するためには、該当する更新タイミングで移行い ただく必要があります。更新時に移行されず契約を満了された場合、その後は本特別条件 の対象外となり、将来的に再度ご利用される際には、通常価格でのサブスクリプション購 入となります。
Will the Griptape Framework remain open source?
Griptape Framework and Griptape Engine are currently available under the open source Apache 2.0 license. Foundry is committed to the Griptape developer community. As the platform evolves to meet the high-security and high-scale requirements of global studios, Foundry will continue to assess the best ways to provide both open-source access and specialized commercial features.
What does this acquisition mean for Foundry users?
We are excited to leverage Foundry’s expertise in creative workflows to continue to build Griptape as a platform for orchestrating creative and pipeline processes. We plan to integrate Griptape with existing Foundry products, enabling artists to easily incorporate the outputs from a range of AI models into their creative workflow.
