Foundry, the leading developer of creative software for the Media and Entertainment industry, today reveals its plans for SIGGRAPH 2023.
Foundry will be attending the SIGGRAPH conference in Los Angeles from 6-10 August with a series of presentations and meet-ups focusing on the recent innovations in its compositing, lighting, texturing and 3d tools. From booth presentations, third party talks and a series of community and educational events, the Foundry team will be on-site to speak with customers on the latest industry developments and product releases.
Foundry will be dedicating its booth (#644) to Foundry Learn and Education, offering both students and professionals the opportunity to learn new techniques in compositing from Unity Wētā Tools, Boxel Studios and Action VFX; along with lighting and 3D techniques from Foundry product experts. The booth will also host several community events. Tuesday will be an opportunity for the Foundry APAC Community to meet up from 2 pm to 3pm and the LATAM Community from 4 pm to 5pm. Followed on Wednesday afternoon with a Texture Artist meet-up from 3:30 pm till 5pm with Mari Product Manager Charli Holt.
Other Foundry events taking place during the show include a Katana Summit with Wētā’s Associate VFX Supervisor Sam Cole for Avatar: Way of Water and Pixar Animation Studio’s Global Technology Supervisor, Renee Tam on using advanced Denoising with RenderMan and Katana for Pixar’s next feature film Elio. And, a Nuke CopyCat Master class and customer meet-ups for Mari and Modo.
Supporting artists is close to the heart of Foundry. To support those who may have been impacted by VFX projects being paused due to the US writers union (WGA) and actors union (SAG-AFTRA) strikes, Foundry is extending its Nuke 30 day trial license to 90 days to help artists learn using the latest release to help increase their employability and spur creativity when productions resume. The trial will also grant access to the upcoming Nuke 15.0 open beta, so artists can experiment and provide feedback on the latest features; beta access is generally only available to those with active subscriptions or maintenance for full commercial licences. We expect to launch the extended trial in August after SIGGRAPH has wrapped.
Foundry is also proud to support several community based initiatives at this year’s conference including the launch of the new Alliance for OpenUSD (AOUSD), the annual DigiPro 2023 event, Academy Software Foundation Open Source Days 2023 as well as the Going Cloud Native Beers of a Feather mixer, Women of SIGGRAPH workshops series and the Student Volunteer program.
Christy Anzelmo, Chief Product Officer says: “We’re excited to be back in LA connecting with our community of artists and technologists on the 50th anniversary of SIGGRAPH! This year we’ll be previewing upcoming releases across all Foundry products with customers and partners. In addition to an array of meetups and events during the week, the Foundry team will be supporting the open source community through engagements with the ASWF, MovieLabs, and the AOUSD.”
Lenovo and NVIDIA are Foundry’s technology partners and will be providing hardware and support for all activities.
