Foundry, leading creative software developer, has announced that its Mari development team will be honored by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences at the annual Scientific and Technical Awards presentation on Saturday, February 13. The awards recognize individuals that have added value to the filmmaking process.
For their contributions to Mari's development, Jack Greasley, Kiyoyuki Nakagaki, Duncan Hopkins and Carl Rand from Foundry will receive an Academy Plaque in the Scientific and Engineering Awards category at the ceremony to be held at the Beverley Wiltshire in Beverly Hills.
Mari®, a high-end texture painting application, was developed specifically for visual effects and CG. It has been used in the production of films including Avatar, The Avengers, Academy Awardwinner Gravity and Jurassic World among others. In 2015, Foundry software was used in the creation of all the nominated films in the 2015 Academy Awards® category achievement in visual effects, including the winner, Interstellar.
